I’m particularly proud to present on behalf of us all here in Masham our new 0.0% alcohol-free version of our legendary Old Peculier – appropriately named Nowt Peculier. Theakston Nowt Peculier will sit alongside the renowned original, offering a zero-alcohol option.
First brewed in Masham in the early 19th century, Old Peculier has become our flagship brand. Although its name holds a tribute to the unique ecclesiastical status of the town as a ‘Court of the Peculier’, first established in medieval times, new Nowt Peculier has been created to meet the demands of the modern market and growing thirsts for low and no alcohol beers.
Thanks to advanced filtration technology, we have preserved everything that’s made Old Peculier the iconic pint it is today - minus the alcohol. Meticulously brewed using the original recipe and our usual brewing methods, this rich-flavoured, dark ruby ale, we believe, captures the complex character of its classic counterpart.
Brewed with the traditional Fuggle hop alongside Challenger and Progress bitter hops, Nowt Peculier offers a deeply satisfying non-alcoholic option for traditional ale enthusiasts, with subtle notes of cherry and banana complementing a gentle bitter hop finish.
As a brewery with almost 200 years of experience, we have never rested on our laurels and feel that, in line with changing market demands and increasing appetite for low and no alcohol options, now is exactly the right time to launch a 0.0% version of our most famous beer.
As ever, we are totally committed to using the highest quality ingredients, which, when matched with the expertise of our brewers and remarkable new technology has enabled us to closely replicate the familiar flavours of Old Peculier in alcohol-free form and we’re extremely proud of the end result.
Launched now, in time for the Christmas and New Year festivities, Nowt Peculier is eminently drinkable all session long, all year round, making it an ideal choice for our loyal Theakston fans and new drinkers alike looking for an alcohol-free option this festive season.
